BVWC dues remain inexpensive because the Village of Telkwa retains the right to use the space for other purposes. There may be times throughout the year when a practice is canceled, or moved outdoors as a result. Additionally, there may be times throughout the year when the coaching staff will be away for tournaments, or competitions and practices may need to be canceled. We are unable to pro-rate, or refund fees for any canceled practices that may happen throughout the year.
Each tournament charges a fee for registration, which
varies with each competition. The fees to compete are usually quite affordable,
and these are in addition to the BVWC dues. All tournament entry fees are due
prior to the event so the BVWC knows what athletes will be attending. Late
participants will not be accepted so please ensure fees are paid on time.
Travelling to tournaments in the north comes with unique challenges and costs, as most tournaments are in urban areas such as Prince George or the lower mainland. This is an expense that athletes and their family are expected to cover. As a club, we are committed to making this as cost-friendly as possible through fundraising, grants, and cost-sharing.
For example, if you as the parent, is unable to chaperone your athlete to a competition, it may be possible for them to go with another family or the coach(es). Please make
financial arrangements with whomever they are traveling with to share in
expenses such as - meals, fuel, snacks and accommodations. Additionally, if you intend on
transporting someone else’s child please contact your insurance provider to
ensure you are covered and complete the additional paperwork that is required, prior to transporting another (under 18) athlete.
Our values and mission are to share the passion for wrestling in grappling in the Bulkley Valley. As a collective, we never want financial barriers to limit the potential of a wrestler. The Bulkley Valley Wrestling Club provides 2-6 scholarships, in 6 month increments, to allow passionate athletes to train and participate. Please connect with us to explore scholarship options.
